It includes other briefing rooms for economics and social statistics, including the latest raw data on crime, inflation, unemployment, income, and demographics.
Nearly 39 percent of American homes now have personal computers
According to a survey released by Computer Intelligence InfoCorp. based on interviews with 11,500 PC users, this year's CII Consumer Technology Index report again indicates that consumers who have a PC at home tend to be middle-aged, in a higher income bracket, better educated, and more likely to have children than those without a PC.

Survey by Killen &;Associates estimates a worldwide total of 30 million Net users entitled "Internet: Global Penetration and Forecast-2000," Sources of the study include Network Wizards, Open Market, Vanderbilt, Netcraft, CommerceNet/Nielsen, Internet World, Netfind, Internet Address Finder, OKRA, Four11, Yahoo, Digital Equipment (Alta Vista), Excite, and Killen &;Associates' proprietary data base.
CompuServe moving to the Web
CompuServe will begin to replace its proprietary online service with one built on open Internet standards later this year. Company executives said they will continue to support the stand-alone CompuServe service as long as there is customer demand. However, any new features added to the service will be Web-based.
Clinique Develops Site for Girls

Excite one of America Online's (AOL) search and directory services.
Excite will join AOL's own search engine WebCrawler and be displayed on AOL's Internet Connection Channel and "Explore" Web pages.
